15 Signs He Likes You And Wants to Be With You

Two people sitting at a table seen from the side in simple silhouette. Their postures tell the whole story. He is leaning slightly forward, shoulders angled toward her, one arm resting on the table closer to her side.

Nothing scrambles your brain quite like having a crush on a guy and having no clue whether he likes you back.

You replay every date in your head. His texts always end up in the group chat for a second opinion, and every little thing he does turns into a possible sign he likes you, down to his body language.

And sure, body language can hint at how a guy feels. But when he actually likes you, you won’t need to study it frame by frame like an FBI agent decoding a suspect, waiting for the one gesture that gives him away.

Here are 15 signs a guy really does like you and wants to be in a relationship with you:

1. He Makes Plans and Follows Through

A guy who likes you asks you out and has an actual plan, not a vague “we should hang out sometime” that never turns into anything. He wants to see you, so he makes it happen.

Endless texting tells you so little on its own. A man will happily keep a text thread going for weeks because it costs him nothing, keeps him from being bored, all while never suggesting a real date.

When you can’t tell if he’s really busy or just not that interested, stop paying attention to his texting and start watching whether he actually asks you out.

2. He Initiates

You shouldn’t be the only one keeping this connection alive. A guy who likes you reaches out first and suggests the next date before you have to, because he doesn’t want to leave it to chance that he’ll see you again.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that maybe he’s just shy and that’s why he hesitates to reach out. Men are socialized from birth to pursue the women that they like. It’s ingrained in books, movies, and the way social dynamics play out from a very young age.

He knows that he’s supposed to initiate, so if he isn’t going it and you’ve shown you like him, it’s probably because he doesn’t want to.

3. He Does What He Says He’ll Do

A guy who likes you follows through on the small promises. If he says he’ll call after work, he does it, and you’re not left refreshing the screen wondering if he forgot you exist.

Keeping his word on the little things matters more than it seems.

A man who follows through when it’s easy is the same one who’ll follow through when it’s hard, while a guy who breaks tiny promises without a second thought is showing you how he’ll handle important things as well.

4. He Remembers What You Tell Him

A man who likes you listens and remembers what you say.

For example, he’ll remember the work meeting you were dreading and texts to see how it went, because you’re on his mind and he wants to make sure you’re ok.

Basically, he listens to get to know you, not just to keep a conversation going.

5. He Wants to Know You

When men start developing feelings, they get curious about your life.

He asks about your friends, job, the things that stress you out, and the things you love.

And when you talk about these things, he listens intently and you can tell he’s enjoying talking to you.

6. He Doesn’t Keep You Waiting

If a guy likes you, he doesn’t leave you on read for three days and then comes back like no time passed. If he knows he’ll be less available, he tells you so instead of vanishing, because he doesn’t want you sitting there thinking he’s ghosting you.

This is the opposite of breadcrumbing, where a man hands you just enough attention to keep you interested but never enough to make you feel secure. A guy who actually likes you stays in steady contact instead of dragging out the silence to see whether you’ll chase him.

7. He’s Not Hiding You

He brings you into his life instead of keeping you in a separate box. He introduces you to his friends, he’s happy to be seen with you in public, and he doesn’t get cagey when you talk about meeting the people who matter to him.

When a man keeps you tucked away, there’s usually a reason. He might be cheating, dating multiple women at the same time, or he knows he doesn’t want anything serious with you.

8. He Includes You in His Future Plans

A guy who likes you starts planning the future around you. For example, he might mention a concert two months out and ask if you’d want to come, or ask if you’d be his plus-one at a wedding in six months.

He does it without hesitating, because in his head you’re going to be around by then.

This is different from future faking, which is when someone makes elaborate plans for your shared future way too soon in the relationship.

9. He’s Consistent, Not Hot And Cold

The clearest sign of all is consistency, because it’s something a guy who’s only half-interested can’t keep up for long.

A few years ago, I was seeing someone, and every time we went out, we had a great time. The chemistry was there, the conversation flowed; they were the kinds of dates that leave you smiling on the drive home.

Then he’d disappear for a week, resurface as if nothing had happened, and disappear all over again.

I spent weeks confused, trying to reconcile the man who was so present on our dates with the one who ignored me for days at a time.

What I didn’t understand back then is that the confusion was the answer. He liked me enough to enjoy my company when it suited him, but not enough to see me regularly or build a long-term connection.

So don’t let a handful of good nights blind you to a bad pattern. When you keep getting whiplash from hot and cold men, the inconsistency is a clear message.

10. He Shows Up When It’s Inconvenient

Anyone will show up for the fun times, so the real test is what a guy does when helping you is inconvenient.

When your car dies, he offers to come get you. When you’re sick, he drops off food or offers to walk your dog. When you’re having a miserable week, and you’re not exactly a joy to be around, he checks in anyway instead of waiting for you to be fun again.

He doesn’t keep a running tally of these favors, because he isn’t doing these things to make you “owe” him. He likes you, so he wants to make your life better. It’s as simple as that.

11. He’s Affectionate, Not Just Physical

A guy who likes you shows affection that has nothing to do with getting you into bed. He’ll hold your hand while driving or give you a gentle forehead kiss while you’re taking a walk.

On the other hand, men who only want to sleep with you use this type of affection as a gateway to sex. You think he’s just giving you an innocent hug, but before you know it, he’s grabbing your butt and trying to undo your top.

12. He’s the Same in Private and in Public

Some people are uncomfortable with PDA, and that’s ok. But if a guy you’re dating almost ignores you when you’re out with a group of friends, that’s a red flag.

Also watch for the man who performs the perfect boyfriend for a crowd and drops the act when you’re alone.

13. He Makes It Right When He Lets You Down

Everyone drops the ball sometimes, but a man who likes you will try to make it right. For example, he might cancel a date at the last minute because he had a huge work emergency.

In this case, he’d genuinely apologize, explain what went wrong, and immediately suggest rescheduling your plans instead of leaving you hanging.

14. He Doesn’t Rush Physical Intimacy

A guy who really likes you will often slow himself down when it comes to sex.

He doesn’t want to come across like that’s all he wants, partly because he knows there are men out there who lie to women to get them into bed, and he’d hate for you to lump him in with them.

Sometimes he’ll even hold off on kissing you longer than you’d expect.

Obviously, this won’t be true of every good guy, and you set the pace here no matter what he does. Still, don’t panic when a man who’s clearly into you is in no rush to make things physical.

15. He’s Fine Waiting

A guy who likes you as a person is genuinely okay when you want to wait before having sex. He’ll respect your decision without sulking, negotiating, or slowly pulling back once he realizes sex isn’t happening right away.

The man who cools off the second you say “not yet” was only ever dating you for one thing.

Look For Patterns, Not One-Off Signs

In isolation, any one of these signs can appear when you’re dating a guy who might not be that into you. So, look for patterns of consistent behavior.

Healthy relationships grow at a steady trajectory, so signs of his interest should build over time, not yo-yo up and down. As soon as you start noticing inconsistencies, weird behavior, or confusion on your part, pay attention.
